Today is the 1st day of the 6 weeks community preceptorship. Left PGP at 7.30am. Traveled a whole triangle of Singapore today. Hah. What do I mean by that?
NUS- Buona Vista- Eunos-Ang Mo Kio-Harbourfront-PGP
It’s orientation day. So typically we went tru the vision mission of the companies before lunch. Then we went to Ang Mo Kio to have a store visit and service training. Also had an impromptu role play, where I played a mum with “flu”. Spontaneously did a few acts impromptu and caught Nathalie (playing the pharmacist) offhand.;P felt abit guilty for so. But it was a very casual session, so whatever that we weren’t sure, Mariam our chief preceptor AND also my preceptor would clarify and correct us. Eg: what’s the difference between flu and cold? What’s the difference between Difflam and Trachisan lozenges?
Besides covering the patient counseling part of service, we also got to learn about retail operations, including nitty gritty details like how we are suppose to return the change to the customers appropriately at the cashier. Yup, we would be expected to learn cashiering. I’m totally fine with it. As they say, the pharmacist usually is the manager or superior in the retail store. So he/ she should understand what the subordinates (eg cashier) do too, because the pharmacist is the problem solver and needs to take charge if the cashier’s facing problems etc.
Everyone was really tired after half the day standing. Me too, though I’ve stood longer hours before than this. Well it’s been quite some time…Haha, went shoe shopping with Suyin at Harbourfront on our way back from Ang Mo Kio. Her heels were killing her. Now I must learn saving also, what with earning only $5 per day! So Carl’s Junior also “sandwich only”. -_-”
Alot of funny things happened in the mrt also. But hmm…I shall not comment further so openly here…otherwise Suyin’s gonna hunt me down…HAHA;P
Yup, that’s roughly my 1st day.:) Tomorrow I’ll have to travel all the way to Simei (East) from NUS (West) -_-” in fact it’s every day for the next 6weeks…my poor pocket…

p/s: to prevent excessive “sweating” (layman term), also known as “perspiration” (higher lvl layman term), or “diaphoresis” (doc act-smart term)…I shall spare you with the rest of the conversation…
